Been away from the board for too long.
We are usually off-seasoners but decided last minute to shoot down to Hatteras this weekend for a few days. It wasn't until after I booked that I realized.....oh crap, what about summer traffic!
How is traffic getting over the Wright Brothers Bridge and down to Hatteras on a Saturday these days???

Very little. I live in Duck and have had no problems out and about on weekends. Really different then covid years.

Good to hear, will be arriving Saturday September 2nd for a week. We are staying in Chincoteague Friday night which has worked out well in the past. We should hit the WBB by 10am

In my limited area of travel here Saturday morning traffic on the bypass thru KDH can be painfully slow. That has stopped me from adding one more truck to the mix. Honestly it shouldn't be bad.

The worst traffic is in the KDH "french fry alley" area. The bridge backup is no longer what it was 5+ years ago. Wednesday and Friday traffic has noticeably increased over the last 2-3 years.

Chincoteague is a great place. Consider Cape Charles in the future well.

My 1st reply contained an omission. The word not was missing. "That has NOT stopped me from adding one more truck to the mix".

Today we returned home from Elizabeth City at 2 PM and traffic from Lowes to Colington Road was at a crawl. Felt like Saturday morning. The WMB was moving at 60+ mph east bound.

Skip all the traffic in the Northern Beaches, take 295 South around Richmond all the way to 95 South near Petersburg. Stay on 95 South into NC until you come to 64 East near Rocky Mount. Follow 64 E all the way into South Nags Head and turn right at the light onto 168 to Hatteras. Little longer drive but no slow downs and very few lights.
