No warnings here. Even as a test that would be bad form

We got the same text. Scared me at first until I scrolled down a mile and it said it was a test.

If it were ever true, where would you go? Might be a good day to climb the light house. Big grin
I'd be heading to Teach's Lair to hop on a boat and head to sea.

OBXAlerts sent out a test warning. This is the first time I've received a Tsunami warning. Great! - one more thing to worry about even if the chances of an east coast Tsunami is very low.

Follow the link to the Dare County Emergency Management page to sign up for the alerts.

Jockey's Ridge unless I was too far away and then I'd go for any one of the bridges and hope like hell it holds!

Considering where I live, I would go to the top floor of the Hilton.

A 2011 documentary from National Geographic. Both fascinating and scary.

I cannot imagine a tsunami on the mid east coast as they typically occur in Iceland and points south in the Caribbean. Thank goodness! I remember the earthquake that hit VA in 2011 and was almost thrown out of my chair. Our company evacuated to the outside, which in hindsight was not good, but the scraping of the floors were scary and we were on the 4th floor in Roanoke on an 11 story building. Yep...it was inland but still scary. My daughter's law firm in DC evacuated and people were screaming thinking it was another 9.11. Just a bad scene and I will never forget it!

It said TEST at the beginning, first word of the body of the message. Admit it was easy to miss, however, particularly with the surprise factor of the message.

The boxing day tsunami people that were scuba diving at the time did not know anything happened.

Apparently the Tsunami warning we received was a false alarm!

I'm thinking it was some disgruntled NWS employee/interns "last day"...kinda like the terminated WalMart employee that does a little "monologue" w the store PA system on the way out the door.

So yeah, it was a surprise.
