There was a thread here some time ago about what is going on with the Weeping Radish. Here is a new update, it seems they are not going to reopen the Grandy location.

Its a shame they just don't rebuild at the location they were in Manteo next to the Christmas shop. Its now a vacant lot

Back in the early 90’s we loved going to the Christmas Shop then going across the little bridge to the couple of shops there, then onto the sweeping Radish for some great food and beer. It was heartbreaking to see all that go to ruin and get demolished. (Glad the Christmas Shop is still there - I’ve got ornaments on my Christmas tree that I bought there in the mid 70’s! and we make a point to go there every visit down. Too bad the WR couldn’t stay in its original location with its original owner. We never stopped in Grandy. Just not a convenient location.

I’ll definitely pass on doing any business with Gupta as he continues on his heartless rampage through the Outer Banks.

Definitely not going well for them in the comments, or on their Facebook post about it. We were huge fans from the late 80s through jarvisburg to the sale. Now I find growlers to go has good German beer among the 40 something taps they have, and it's walking distance. Why would I patronize anybody that's doing that to the business?

In an increasingly crowded market for beer, this is not at all surprising.

We talk about price gouging a lot and IMO none more so than in the beer industry right now. They have reached a point where people are just not supporting these small breweries anymore and we will see many of them fail in the next couple of years.

I’m sure Uli is disappointed too but if you sell to Saga you have to expect an outcome like this. It’s not exactly shocking.

Weeping Radish died with the sale to Gupta. It's a shame, really, after all Uli put into it. If it had been my passion, I would have brought in a team to move it to the next level, or brought in a partner.

I wouldn't have sold to someone with a reputation for poor quality work in their existing profession. People don't do better with things they're less passionate about.

It's a shame. It was good beer out of NC - something people thought couldn't be done until he did.

I’ve noticed a big SAGA sign right over the causeway before the CVS going into Manteo.
Makes my blood boil every time I see it.
And makes me wonder what they are plotting for Manteo.

Is the “boutique hotel” smack dab in the middle of Manteo up and running yet?

So true. A big beard does not a brewer make. Quality and price count.

When left to its own devices, the market will decide who wins and loses. That's a good thing.

Wonder if they will eventually demolish the building and start Weeping Radish Estates. Seems they are only interested in building up every square inch of this area.
