We’ll be down early this year. Never been down before July and definitely never for Memorial Day week so was just curious if there is anything special that happens? Fireworks, parades, etc? And il add this at the end….guessing the warmer water doesn’t arrive this early either?

Certainly no fireworks or parades. I can't think of anything that happens except the lifeguards start working the beaches.

Water temp depends on the wind direction no matter what month you visit. Wind from the west blows the warm water off shore and wind from east blows the warm water into the shore. It's a gamble but historically the second half of the summer has the highest water temperatures.

We used to rent for 2 weeks every May. The last two years there were nor'easters both times. Prepare for that by bringing warm clothes and hats. Hope you have better luck with the weather than we had. We finally made the move so we don't have to deal with hoping for good weather Have a good trip!
