I really like her but I wonder if her menu will be upscale enough for Sanderling. Hope she does well.

Gettysburg Lady

She appears to be an eastern North Carolina country girl, which she is, but she is also a world class chef, entrepreneur and author. The question is not whether she will be upscale enough for Sanderling, but whether Sanderling will be upscale enough for her talents. Her arrival on the Outer Banks will raise the bar of excellence the same way that Blue Point did.

Hoi - That's very cool. I look forward to trying out the restaurant, if I can get a reservation. I'm not familiar with her, but her Wikipedia page is impressive.

She’s been involved on the Outer Banks before. She raised over $40K selling One Island Under Tacos shirts (of which I’m a proud owner) to help rebuild Eduardo’s on Ocracoke after Dorian

She appeared in Manteo, sponsored by the bookstore, with her new cookbook in December, 2020…during the Covid times.

We are huge fans of PBS and always watched her cooking show when it was on and loved how she interacted with the locals in NC. Very classy woman and world class chef.

I loved that she helped Ocracoke and didn't know that. Just a giving lady.

Speaking of which, it seems Eduardo is retiring for real this year at seasons end. Unless it’s another April Fools leg pulling…

I am a big fan also. Loved her pbs show. My daughters treated me to a meal at Lenoir in Charleston. Will be looking forward to dining at her restaurant at the Sanderling .

We were just in Charleston last week and ate at Lenoir on Wednesday! What did you think? I thought it was a tad hit-and-miss. She had a blueberry thing going with wings with a blueberry sauce and a bourbon blueberry shrub cocktail; both were just ok. We ordered a tomato pie entree for the table which was outstanding. Also a green pasta with peas that was very good. The interior of the space was nicely done. Given the sheer number of great Charleston restaurants, I’d have no need to go again.

All that said, am still excited for her venture in Sanderling and wish her and it nothing but the best! And here’s hoping that tomato pie is on the menu!!
