Each one is different and the same.

All depends on if the Blue Angels (real pilots) or the Thunderbirds (wannabe pilots) are performing.

it's a pretty good show. The F-22 demo is worth it alone. FYI if you are soundside near Stumpy point they have been practicing the routine over the dare county range for the last few days.

Is that what I saw flying over the sound yesterday towards that area? Many were flying over... I don't know what type of plane, but the kind that gives you chills when they fly over.

Might of been ,it was a few f-22's and f-15E's you could hear them on the 359.100Mhz frequency talking about the formation

Hi, Bill!......I've been to the O.C. Show a few times.....it's a good spot for a show but the viewing area is limited unless you want spend hundreds of dollars for a special seat. Even paid for an umbrella and 4 chairs once and when we got there, there were no umbrellas and no chairs...had to go to the VIP section and steal some....cop wasnt happy but I showed him my pass and walked away. Too much about money, and takes way too long to get out of town when its over. Thunder over Dover was awesome! Free to the puplic...free parking...Blue Angels AND Thunderbirds.....viewing area was right on top of the airstrip and could see everything take off and land.....I was wondering if the Langley show was free with free parking...I know they have VIP seating available for $$....and also if it's a nightmare to get in and out.

You are not wrong there.

Like all too many things these days we are taking things that used to be for all and monetizing them in ways that most people get locked out.

I had a chance to buy tickets to the OC Show this year, when I saw the price I was like, nope, not gonna see it.

For the Dover show, for some crazy reason they let people pull off the highway on Route 1, and you get a number of fender benders each year.

I avoid Dover that weekend at all costs. I used to avoid Dover on NASCAR weekends, but they barely get 50,000 there anymore and it's not a big deal, not as big as the Air Show anyway

Here in MD, if it can be taxed, levied or fee'd, it will be. The OC airshow is no exception and they'll sock it to you hard if you make the mistake of even going near there for that weekend, lol. Welcome to Ocean City, what's in your wallet?!! Big grin

Oh so chitty. You ain't seen nothing until you watch the Blue Angel's Flight Demonstration from your boat, in Annapolis Harbor, for the Naval Academy graduation show every May. You'll have F/A-18 Super Hornets roaring right over your head. I've been watching the shows for roughly the past 30 years, and it never gets old! These days it's a company event, and we charter three large boats to entertain 80 or so clients. It's a real crowd pleaser!

"If" that is a real picture it is a real FAA violation of the 500 ft rule.

It's real, Tim. FAA regs don't apply to Blue Angel's flight demonstrations, especially at the Naval Academy. They don't give a rat's you know what about the stinkin' FAA rules. They break plenty of other rules. How about flying wing tip to wing tip with a 24" clearance. That would give the air cops an ulcer! The Coasties shut down the Severn River because the jets fly at 100', or so upriver. I think the pilot in the picture was pushing the supersonic window. If he hit around 720 there would have been a lot of broken glass in Annapolis!

Yeah, FAA rules pretty much don't apply to air shows. Especially the military demonstration units/teams.

I was at the Oceana show in 2000. An F-14 broke the sound barrier right over show center. That'll rattle your molars.

Since then that has been banned at shows. Not sure exactly when that happened.

Fun, Squid!!! We have been to the Air and Water show a couple of times in Chicago (daughter and fam live there) and it's so much fun. We sit on a blanket on a grassy knoll at the lake shore and I always wondered about those lucky enough to be sitting in the water in beautiful boats having big time parties. What fun you must have doing that!

September 2000, NAS Oceana air show: During a lull a lull between "acts" I heard a aircraft approaching from the left. I looked down range and saw a lone fighter coming in hot. As it closed I recognized it as an F-14, wings fully swept. As the bow shock wave would start to form the pilot would back off - he was jockeying the throttle to keep it just at the sound barrier. As he crossed show center the pilot pushed it through.

Big Boom.

Then, 200 babies/kids crying.

We went to the air show at NAS Oceana in 2000. The Blue Angels scrubbed their performance on Saturday due to the extremely low ceiling. So we went back Sunday - they flew but because of the ceiling they did their "low show".

We went to the air show at MCAS Cherry Point in 2018. No ceiling problems that day, so the The Blue Angels flew. After 2 or 3 passes they went out of sight for a looooong time. Then #1 came in and landed. The announcer said that the Boss was "uncomfortable with his aircraft". After about 30 minutes he took off in the #7 plane. The rest of the show was very subdued, even more so than the low show. So I guess the Boss was also uncomfortable with not his usual aircraft.

So we're still trying to see the whole show in person.
