I caught this one at the end of last September. I have no idea on its length as the encampment you can see in the distance is where the tape measure was located so we snapped a few pics and turned it back. I guess mid to upper 40's. It was not an impressive fight and even less impressive bite, but I was pretty pleased as this was an impromptu outing after work. I golf with a member of the "F" team and was invited to fish with them as they were prepping for some tournament.
The funny thing about this bite... I was using a sputnik because the current was ripping and waves were big. I felt a slow drag on the line. It felt much like the normal drag you get with waves, current, or grass. I released a few feet of line as I didn't want my sputnik to release. The line got taught again so I released more line. Again it got taught so I decided to give the rod a reasonable sweep (circle hook) and it was solid with head shakes. GAME ON! Three minutes later it was all over, fish on the beach. Cody from the team went into full-on beast mode and jumped in the water to bear hug the fish and get the gripper in its mouth.
Fun times, but to be honest, the fight from schoolies ~30" on my 2500 BG in the yak are way more entertaining.
