Just got back from a successful walleye fishing trip to Erie, Pa.
We were in 30-40 feet of water and decided to try a Berkley MaxScent Flat nose minnow Brown Back color - casting out - letting it hit the lake bottom - very slowly retrieving it and giving it a minor twitch now and then-and had good success ! Both the walleye and perch thought it was worthwhile eating !!
Any thoughts on how it might do in the OBX surf ???
Or advice on any soft plastic minnow bait ??
Thanks
It's often said that fishing lures are intended to catch the fisherman. I think your bait will work just as well as any of the typical types you see in local shops, e.g. Z-Man, Gulp, DOA, etc. I usually go for colors that look like what fish eat so in saltwater I'm using something that looks like a finger mullet or glass minnow such as Z-Man Diesel Minnow in Slam Shady. I also have something ridiculous tied on like the Electric Chicken color just in case the Slam Shady is coming up short.
