I see what you did there.

I don't typically take food out on the beach, but when it comes to stealing bait the boat-tailed Grackles are, hands down, the professionals.

Fun fact (albeit a bit pedantic): There's no bird officially named "seagull".

Almost said "french fry."

I didn't know that about the "seagull" term. Thanks. Kinda like hot tub is the umbrella term for Jacuzzi or Cal Spa tub?

Grackles seem to be all over the beach hovering.

I carry a bucket out to the beach when fishing. Flipped over, it becomes a seat and a bird-proof bait cover.

We take two buckets. One is the "tackle box" - couple of extra bottom rigs, pliers, bait knife & small cutting board, fish towel & sundry whatever. The other has a few beers & ice in it. Catch a fish gotta drink the beers. Hate that.

In the PDRM (peoples democratic republic of maryland) we bury beers in the sand. Patrols roll by every 15-30 minutes.

That's reason # 8 I haven't been back to Ocean City since 1995.

We have friends who live there so we have to adapt when visiting them.
