Anyone decorating for Christmas yet? I finished my tree yesterday putting on the final ornaments. Heading to HI next week for several days and will be going to the Hatteras Village Christmas parade, so I wanted to get a jump here in VA on decorating.

Pic of the parade in 2023. I remember it was very warm that year for the parade. Short sleeve weather...

We will go cut down our tree early tomorrow morning and then get it up with the help of a couple of young-buck grandsons.
I like to pay a little homage to Christmas on Thanksgiving day.
Just some fresh cranberries in water with cut greens from one of our pine trees.
My kids always say “ No Christmas until after Thanksgiving!” but it always sneak something in Ha!

We usually start the Friday after Turkey day. But we got the outside decorations up yesterday because it was sunny and 65. Today and the next few days are going be highs in the low 40's and windy.

Good thinking, Greg! Windy and cold here.
What do you put up?
We just do a huge fresh wreath on the front door and every window has a candle - all 25!

Thanks,Bent!
When I pulled out the giant tub of fall decor from under the eaves I opened it to find everything covered in moths and moth eggs! Ewwww
Somehow an ear of Indian corn got mixed in by accident and apparently the moths had quite a feast. So off to Hobby Lobby I went to replace everything.

Wreaths and rope garland, bows and a few white lights to help chase off the darkest part of winter.

Lolly,

I'm sure you always have a touch of the Banks in your holiday decor....

Attached is a pic of Mann's Harbor pine cones picked up a long time ago. Sitting beside the wood stove. Love looking at them. Kinda Christmas -y.

Yep, Bent
This basket is filled with pine cones from the trees that surrounded my parents’ cottage in NH.

Also a few from Fort Raleigh (one of my favorite places)

All decorated so when we get home from Currituck it’s Christmas ready. Since we’re downsized I picked up a small artificial tree at DG in Rodanthe. It looks pretty all dolled up but it’s dropping needles a bit. Funny!
Been thinking of you and yours lately. Good thoughts and Happy Thanksgiving

The missus cleaned up the old grapevine wreath rings, then dressed them up with fresh cut holly. Still in the shop for now, but they'll go on the front doors tomorrow.

Oh my goodness, Stumpy!
I’m going to do exactly that!
So simple.
I have two giant holly trees just loaded with red berries. (Last Christmas they had zero berries)
I love that primitive look! It goes perfect with our 250 year old colonial farmhouse!
Just about every thing I decorate with for Christmas comes from our property.

Small artificial trees are the ticket! Dropping needles....haha! "One of them balsams!".

Nice to hear from you and thank you for the thoughts. Hope you and your sweet husband have a wonderful day.

That's scary! And having to buy your things all over again!

Happened a few years ago to an artificial tree that was boxed up in the shed at the very top of the property. Not much storage space in this tiny log cabin, so some things go in there. Brought down the tree and mice had made a nest inside and a dead mouse fell out and another mouse skeleton ! I screamed and immediately drove it to the street...not in my car... for garbage pick up. No more trees in the shed or hardly anything else except for a couple of hunting tree stands...
