They always have live surf competitions on at the bar. Most of the guys who work here surf and know all the local watermen.

Tortugas' Lie is all our all-time favorite! Great food and staff.

They opened in 1991 or so. When my wife and I got engaged in Va in 1992, we took a weekend trip to Nags Head to talk wedding plans and have some fun. Ate at TL one night and decided then and there to get married at the beach, which we did. When we were thinking about buying a place at the beach in 2011, we went to TL and made the decision to buy. In 2017, we were thinking about whether to build a new house or renovate our beach box. You guessed it, made the decision to build while at TL. We like to say all our important life decisions are made at Tortugas.
