I hope gas pumps are not allowed in that zone, but chances are they probably are allowed. It does not matter if it is needed, if it can be legally put there then it can be there. I hope they don't do it, we don't need it.

Well, that bank had been vacant for a few years. Something was going to happen there.

The next question, are they going to allow an entrance from the highway or make customers turn at one of the 2 lights?

I stopped at the one in Grandy months ago and the fried food was mushy and mediocre.

I just looked at the reviews. OMG. Egg sandwiches with no eggs. They were out of eggs. Dirty sticky floors, pumps that don't pump fast. Overall a 3.2

Maybe the new one will be better.

I'm kind of OK with the Royal farms. Reason I'm Ok with it is we come down a lot in the off season and picking up food or fuel late at night in the odd hours is a good thing. I am not a terribly huge fan of their food but the option is nice. They do run some chicken specials every so often that are decent like $1.50 any size coffee or 12 pcs of chicken for $20 or 8 pieces of dark meat for $12.
I will say their chicken has more salt than the Albemarle sound but again the option is nice.

I have one about 3 miles from my house and they are building one 1 mile from me next year.

I stop for Gas but don't go in.

We stopped going to RF. Every single one we’ve ever been in has been dirty - especially the rest rooms! Yuck!

It use to be so wonderful to come across the WMB and feel like I was leaving the rat race behind me. Not so much any more.

I have not been impressed by the Royal Farms in Grandy.

I once thought more gas pumps on OBX would result in price competition and lower prices. Not so. The OBX operators cabal ensures prices will be fixed at the highest prices per gallon drivers will tolerate before driving into Currituck to save money.

The only benefit I see is that if RF brings gas prices down, like they did in Grandy, it could start a price war here. When RF opened in Grandy I would drive up to get much cheaper gas and use the saving to eat at Hardee's A win-win!

Did WaWa have the same effect? When Sheetz came in to my home town there was a brief price war. For some weeks everyone was cheap and then things returned to normal. I thought WaWa, Sheetz, and RF all had that effect on areas when they come in and try to eliminate competition.

I stopped at the RF in Grandy this past weekend. My first visit to one, but I only needed beverages. The Twisted Tea was nice and cold. 5 stars!

Also, for anyone who cares RF, Sheetz, and WaWa are not top-tier fuels. I didn't care when I had my old truck, but I try to be more cognizant of it now and only fill up at good stations when possible. According to GasBuddy, RF in Grandy is among the most expensive gas available in the area. For less you can get better gas.

Yep....my thoughts exactly. I'll buy packaged items in there and places like that only for the convenience, but that's it. (If I wanna spend $3.00 on a candy bar??)

If the restroom is yucky, the food will be too. Cooking crew=restroom clean up crew. Only so much I can do using an elbow to navigate...

If you drive another couple of miles past the RF in Grandy you will find Hop In Convenience Store on the right. I think Hop In has the lowest prices on 158 in that area. Unfortunately many other drivers buy gas there and the pumps can get jammed up with cars at times buying gas. That is when I pass Hop In by.

Wawa did not make a major influence on gas prices. I can recall going to RF because it was so cheap even when Wawa opened. RF has stopped the gas wars in Grandy it looks like.

Actually, RF, the Duck Thru cattycorner to RF, and the gas at the Dunkin across are all 2.49 now. That's about the lowest from the WMB to the Va state line.

Wawa or Sheetz enter an area and instantly lower Gas prices by mayber .05 cents per gallon. Their model is one where you get used to buying gas from them and walk in to Get a drink or food item.

6 months after opening, especially if there is not competition in eyesight, their prices either match prices or can go slightly hire. And most people will never notice it, because they've told themselves, there are here for the coffee or Sizzli
