Neat story about the tracking. We saw one floating offshore three years ago. Capt thought it was a sheet of plywood and headed towards it, until it lifted its head to look at us.

Neat experience, Greg! Sheet of plywood is the perfect description.

Cool that it's in Salvo.

We saw one fishing out of Hatteras early part of this century. Don't know what the Capt thought it was, but, yeah, anything floating out there gets checked out. About the time we all got a good look at it it dove. Before the Capt could get back up to trolling speed it hit one of the lures in the spread. Fought it - yeah, like "fighting" an anchor - for about 15 mins and it pulled off.

I would love to see one. I'm sure the turtle must have been really large to have held onto the lure for so long. Cool story!

Riptide chillin’ in Panama in May… "That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little swim."

I’ve seen some large turtles offshore, but I think all were loggerhead. I also see many greens and a few loggerhead while kayaking down in your neck of the woods, Bent. Very close to shore. Frisco to Avon. Some of the loggerhead were huge, but no leatherback

That's cool! Thank you for letting me know! Holden Beach one year we had a nest on the OF cottage and the girls tended it all week.
