We haved stayed in Whalehead since 1989 and the dunes there are excellent in my opinion, probably now about 25' high and quite wide where we stay.

Do you know the dune "quality" at Palmer's Island at the Dare/Currituck County line? Just wondering since we will be staying in Palmer's Island starting (?) this Sunday.

Palmer's Island/Sanderling have less dunes than Whalehead, but I don't think there will be too much of a breach there. I expect the beach will be minimal, and the ocean will still be pretty rough and high.
