there's a great book ...The Outer Banks in Vintage Postcards (Click to follow link...) available locally, or through Amazon, that really makes you want to do time travel!

The book is a wonderful collection of postcards. If you purchased it from Manteo Booksellers, you would be buying it from the author's brother Steve. Chris sadly passed away a few years ago, much too early. Click to follow link... It does cost more then buying it at an online store, but personally I would rather buy regional books at a local store like Manteo Booksellers or Island Bookstore in Corolla. Click to follow link... It will help to keep these wonderful locally owned stores in business.

Thank you sooooo much for taking the time and effort to post these old photos. They are WONDERFUL!! Would be great to post current photos of the same areas along with with old ones to see a comparison. Maybe it would be too sad to look at with all the changes that have taken place in this little piece of heaven.

Hi DREAMER! Thanks! This is giving me the incentive to scan my cards. I do plan to do before/afters, but will need help in finding some of the locations now. I have a lot of hotel/motel postcards that I want to do before and afters of. I have done before and afters of Manteo 1976/2003 that I plan to post here in the future.

I agree. I started to buy online but think I'll drive over to Manteo. I need a she crab soup fix from Poor Richard's anyway. Thanks.
