Melody, I have two Cape Hatteras lighthouse architectural drawings framed and will have to take pics and post them. I bought them many years ago at the Gingerbread House in Buxton/Frisco ~ think I paid .75 per print and spent a small fortune to have them framed. I love them! Thanks for posting the other drawings.

ish....although CAD/GIS etc has helped our profession greatly, I definately miss the hand drawn maps, elevations, etc. Its kinda like I love the flexability of digital photography, yet prefer the warmth of film....also prefer movies shot on film.

Robert - None of my young guys can draft, letter or sketch....... Sad In MY Day, (LOL )you could tell an architect just by his handwriting.....Now I'm the old guy. Even though I can use CAD, I still prefer to sketch every plan, layout & detail by hand and let the young gunslingers turn it into CAD drawings and 3D renderings. I have a great fondness for hand drawing maps, architectural drawings and naval architectural drawings.

My oldest, who is graduating this year is going into architecture. He's already had a few CAD courses. He really likes it. I'm sure these younguns have no clue how it was done before computers, etc.

I have always been envious of my dad's beautiful drawing and lettering. He is a 1941 grad of VMI in civil engineering. He was in the D-Day invasion of Normandy in WW2 and I still cannot believe how those guys did what they did. BTW, he is still alive and kicking at age 89. Frank

I think I have the same ones....one is the entire lighthouse, 1869 with both outside (no stripes) view and one cut-away view; the other is detail of the top, including the walkway and the light.

Yes ~ those are the ones I have! I tried to find additional info by googling, but did't come up with anything. Wonder if the Gingerbread House still sells them? Small world, huh?
