Hi everyone,
I wanted to pass along my absolute favorite website for finding healthy recipes. (I did a search on this forum and didn't see anything listed about it, but please forgive me if someone has already posted this info and I'm being redundant.) The website is recipezaar.com, and the things I like best are that it has a bazillion recipes of all kinds, and for those of us watching our weight, you can search in detail by nutritional data.
It basically gives you the same kind of chart you see on a nutritional label on the food you buy, and lets you specify the data you want it to limit your search results on. For instance, you can search for soups that have no more than 300 calories and 12 grams of fat per serving, and so on. It also has a lot pf copycat restaurant recipes, so if you're craving the Pasta e fagiole soup from Olive Garden or the Chicken Bryan from Carraba's, you can make them at home. A tip: once you do your search, sort the responses by the member rating. Many times there are multiple recipes for the same thing, and this helps select the best ones. The site is so popular that in some places they have parties where members get together for potlucks and everyone brings recipes from the website.
Here is the basic website address: Click to follow link...
To get to the place where you can search by nutrition, click on the "recipes" tab at the top, then click the green oblong button that says "open recipe sifter tool" which will take you to the page where you can select by a bunch of variables (ingredients, time to make, meal or occasion, etc.) and select "filter by nutrition." Or to go directly to that page this is the address: Click to follow link...
You can specify as many or as few of the categories as you want depending on your diet needs. I have found some fantastic and healthy recipes on there, and hope you have as much fun with it as I do!
