When I little or should I say younger I remember when the Pirates Chest use to be on a back road in Buxton or Frisco and the there was an older lady who had a dog that owned or run the shop. Just wandering if anyone knows if that was the lady that owned the shop? She was very sweet. I sure she has long since past away. It has been a long time ago. I am 37 so it's been a good 30 years ago. I was looking at some old vacation photos and I remembered her and her dog.

Think the "Treasure Chest" is on Ocracoke, intersection of Irvin Garrish & Back Road after Pony Island on the right.

Dang, the dog ran the shop? I spent a lot of time in Buxton in the '60s & '70s, but I can't remember the Pirate's Chest. I was probably there, just don't remember it.

OOPS it made sense at the time I typed it LOL. It wasn't on the main road. The store was on back road. I'll ask my older sis if she remembers. Some people are just part of my memories of the island. I always remember the guy from the Burrus Motel riding his moped around and the guy that use to run the Texaco station beside of Hatteras Marlin Motel. He is the spitting image of my uncle.

I remember the Christmas shoppe on Hatteras Island and the old lady and husband who owned it. Very nice people. Some people just leave an impression on you and you never forget them. I remember her husband had health problems and the shop was up for sale and the next year we went down it was just a cottage someone lived in and no more shop. Don't know what happend to them.

Just talked with my older sister, she will kill me when she reads this, who is in Las Vegas this week and saw Jimmy Buffet in concert and loved it. She said she remembers the the lady and her dog but she don't remember the Pirates Chest being on the back road but on the main road beside of the Scotch Bonnet and I remember it being there. I thought it was on the back road before it was there guess I was confused
