I loved seeing these photos. The Old Coast Guard Station shows up pretty good in the Two Sisters boat photo. Sheller (mom...) will have to remind me who the people are in the photos.

Cool pictures. It looks like it was a totally different place back then.

Charlie and James Williams are the men in the first photo. I knew them well. Not sure if thats Monroe - James grandson with them. The Two sisters belonged to James, I went fishing with him several times as a child. Charlie was blind but you could take him out on the water and he knew exactly where he was and he always caught more clams than anybody using only his feet. The second photo is of Jame's back and I think the preacher of the Assembly of God church at the time. I can't remember his name.

I think I have a more recent shot of the house in the top left corner of the first photo. Seems to match pretty well. Always admired that place.

My parents and I stayed at Charlies cabins in the 60's. I don't have pictures because their home burned down in the early 80s, but I sure remember Charlie! My Mom teased a crab in a bucket with a little twig and got badly pinched....really latched on to her thumb! My dad cleaned fish in the yard behind the cabins, and drew every stray cat on the island it seemed. I agree that even blind, Charlie always came home with the most clams. The cabins are still there, but not the same, of course. Thank you so much for the fond memories! Kelly

I just remembered that I had this photo. That's my cousin Jeff kneeling in the photo. Thanks for all the replies ... Aunt Joan will be 81 this October and she has Alzheimers. It's very sad to see someone 'slip' away. When I ask her details about the photos she just says, "oh I can't remember..." She made the April trip with us this year - she still loves to hold a fishing pole on the beach and hunt for shells. btw - her name is said like 'Jo Ann' but spelled Joan.

Are you saying that Charlie's home burned down? I don't remember that.. I lived there in the 80's and was married to Monroe for 4 years, was with Charlie when he died. I've met Joan and Glenn, it's been a long time!

My parent's home burned down....and with it all the pictures. Sorry to confuse! We stayed there in the mid 60's and always stayed at Charlie's Cabins.
