Still working on it

I was jogging and walking but I think I found some thing that I like better . Biking I was doing a mile every night on my feet and I have flat feet so they don’t always like doing this . I got a mountain bike 18 speeds but it isn’t working exactly right, I bought it years ago and mostly use it at the beach , I did some work on it and got it almost back in shape still can’t get the front dérailleur to work right but that’s ok I don’t really need it except when I turn around. My daily ride is up the hollow about a mile and a half I’m increasing that but the ride home is down hill so it is easy however I go every day as far as I feel is good or until I get tired and turn around and head home. Yeah its down hill all the way home but I go a lot farther and use a lot more energy and sweat a lot more too, the return home is just a reward. However I do put it in HI gear and get up a good speed going home . Not only is it fun but also cools me down until I hit my drive way that once again is up hill and I have to shift down to the lowest gear to make it all the way to the back yard. Seems to be working for me. It’s fun and I have found in the past that you will keep doing it if you make it fun. Of course I’m still watching my diet. Low cal low fat, I splurge a little on Friday’ my excuse is I don’t want the wife to have to cook every day and a Pizza or KFC grilled chicken isn't too bad eaten in moderation . I feel better except for my back, that’s another subject and it is helping the arthritis . Yeah it not easy to do this but I started with baby steps as they say and work you way up. I didn’t put on the weight over night and you will not take it off over night.. My goal is still to jog on the beach in August I know I’m going to make it you can too just take that first step. Even if it is just down the drive way next day go a little farther and every other day make a goal to walk a little farther . The easiest part is giving up . Or making an excuse not to exercise . Set a goal and stick to it. Damn I think I’m sounding like Richard Simmons here LOL but it works :roflmao: Ok Drum roll please weigh in today Minus 45 pounds  You can do it I have so far and am setting my goal at 45 more pound Get-er -done People :fish:

You must be so proud of yourself. I try to use your experience as an inspiration. I've got to change so many things. Give up smoking and beer to start with. I've been eating healthier, but I get short of breath when I exercise, so I've been trying to walk. We've had a really big bear (about twice as big as the biggest one any of us have ever seen up here) hanging around for the past couple of weeks, so walking with my 2 YO grandson hasn't seemed like a very good idea. I've been trying to get out and walk at work. but it's been so hot that I haven't been too inspired to go very far. I'm glad you found the bike. I used to love riding my bike, but I can't do it anymore without the out of breath issue. I keep hoping that if I can lose some weight I'll be able to ride again. Keep telling us about your progress. Every time you post, I try harder for a few days. If you can lose 45 pounds and change to healthier eating, I shoudl be able to lose 25 pounds.

 Way to go. Keep up the good work. It's good to change up your routine every once and awhile. Kathy - don't give up. small steps are better than none.

What Mary Ann said I started with just walking down the drive way, it's about 100 yds then I walked longer every other day until I got my bike back in shape then I started again I am now up to 2 1/2 miles up hill then back home is easy I some times go 3 miles when I drink extra or eat off my diet the last 1/2 mile is brutal way back up the hollow but I make it the thing that helps is realizing your limits and expanding on them just puss a little more every day or so, I don't smoke cigarettes but cigars I drink a bit on the week end but keep plugging I us to be in denial all the time one excuse after another why I couldn't and rewarding my self every time I did do good. That didn't work Just determination is my goal now, and praise helps too LOL. I still drink and reward myself but with healthy food that I like and that there is the key . enjoying what you eat and do . Although I would rather eat Ice cream after dinner and donuts for breakfast I found other foods that satisfies me , it takes some experimentations but I think I'm on a roll now. I feel better I have more energy and want to do more . that is one of the best parts . OK Drum Roll please I weighed in today I'm down 56 pounds from the first of the year. I'll take that praise now :roflmao:
