1996 - Renny Jennette & Hatteras Lighthouse

All my pix of Nags Head from 1970 are of sandcastles, so I won't bore you with them...but here's a photo that's special to me. It's not that old really, but subjects are classic.

The park ranger with me is the late Rany Jennette, a son of the last keeper. My BFF and I were there on a slow day and we listened to his tales for a half hour. This, of course, is B.B.M. (Before the Big Move).

My first upload to this site....hope it works.

Great pic & words to go with it. My good friend's Mom would be ?Rany's? niece. She used to volunteer at the light a while back. Miss Eyvonne. BTW~ congrats on the 1st upload! Nice work.

I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Miss Eyvonne (Austin/Stowe kin?) for a spell at Ramp 55 last Saturday, she made sure that I knew the proper spelling and unique pronunciation of her name. charming lady!

RE: the "Austin/Stowe" connection question...its fun to search online the family geneaolgy (sp). I've never seen Renny/Rany's named spelled except in an online obit & in this OP. For a long time i thought my Rollinson friend was spelled "Rollason" b/c i don't see things spelled out all the time & on occasion there's an accent on it too. Lemme git around to the Stowe part as i recall there is a line but can't remember which soide. :smiley16:

But now there's a really bad situation w/ an explosion at the S ferry docks i think...a fireworks truck on a barge heading out for the display. 2 are in serious condition is all i know now. MedFlight from G'ville to the NC Jaycee Burn Unit in Chapel Hill. :smiley58:

Hoi (Amy? if I may) - Miss Eyvonne offered the Austin/Stowe lineage to me during our chat. There is also a connection with the Scarboroughs as her neice(?) is working with Dolphin Realty in some capacity. All I know about the Rollinson's is some nice back Buxton "Rocky" road  Great discussing and reminiscing about names and families. Not from here, but a student of the past.

Yes, Amy is fine. Miss Eyvonne & i were just discussing they're Scarborough relative up in Southern Shores, i believe. This AM i combed through SOME obits online & just about went cross-eyed. I'm used to reading horse bloodlines pretty easily where its laid out on a tree, so to speak. One description of Rany i ran across that was of great interest to me...he owned & operated "Lighthouse Esso" & "Red Drum Tackle."

Amy - I saw where this got carried across the RDT regarding the operation of the tackle shop. Interesting. I think I held up Miss Eyvonne's companions that day at 55 since the story was fascinating. If you have the opportunity before I, please apologize on my behalf. Be well.
