I tried going cold turkey on the coffee for 3 days but i HAVE got to get jacked up today for a computer project i HAVE to work on this PM. Is there any alternative that does the exact same thing or am i stuck drinking massive amounts of coffee. I'm talking two 20 oz. servings here. Otherwise the project would take FOREVER.

Robin~ thanks for clearing up that typo! You had me really confused.

I used 5-Hour Energy when I had to go decaf during a high blood pressure bout. Worked pretty well. It is in most convenience stores on the counter. Small bottle.

We made cocktails at a hurricane party w/ Red Bull & i was up all night long. I only had 2 drinks but man that stuff is hardcore! It worked out well but i hate it when caffeine does that to me cause the next day is a wash.

Try the 5 Hour Energy Drink - most C-stores have it.

hoi - black tea can help to keep you awake too, and it doesn't have nearly the amount of caffeine that coffee does.
(i don't particularly care for the Red Bull's either, but know they can be effective, if ya don't mind bouncin off the wall!:laughsmiley

I used to eat bee pollen instead of drinking coffee. You can get it in healthfood stores.

I drink alot of coffee....working nights for almost thirty years,it's almost unavoidable.I've tried red bull, rock star, and some other "energy drinks" and they just made me feel weird...not more energetic.Anybody know why?I've read the labels...B complex, sugar, caffeine,etc...nothing that stands out.Carbonation maybe?I dunno.

Have you tried some good ole complex carbs for an energy boost??? Maybe a light meal of some complex carbs would help jump start ya.. The once and a while 12oz coffee works like cocaine for me..but I don't drink enough coffee to NOT get a pick me up from an occasional afternoon cup.. And- since I usually only call on that for a boost for something that requires physical demand ( workout, Fishing, Kayaking), I don't seem to crash from it and it will not affect that night's lil sleep I get. I love Red Bull in my Yager Bombs --and when we drink Yager--we drink it by the gallon..So we generally use 8-10 Red Bulls between 4 guys on that night, which will generally keep me awake for about 2 days:beer::beer: Which is ok, since I need to burn off the 5000 calories I took in from the RD and Yager.:smiley40:

I am a caffeine addict. I can't function without my morning coffee with splenda and heavy cream. I drink coke zero or diet pepsi which also have some caffeine. I can think so much clearer with caffeine. I own my own business and my husband owns his own business and I do his book-keeping and I do everything for my own business (Administrator/Director of Nursing, Infection Control,PayRoll Clerk, Bookkeeping, Secretary, Janitor etc.) and am a co-owner of another small business which I do all the book-keeping for. I couldn't make it thru the day without my caffeine. I don't care for the taste of red bull. I love the Monster energy drink in the black & green can but since I have been low carbing I don't drink those any more. I do on occasion drink a Monter low carb energy drink in the black and blue can. Click to follow link..." class="img-responsive" />

Regarding carb intake, correct me if I'm wrong but we're talking about 2 separate issues here. Mental agility & physical stamina? Right? Clearly they're both "interconnected" but to caffeine load for accounting purposes as Robin just laid out for us makes sense to me. Carb loading, not so much. Unless i were to be undertaking strenuous physical activity...which is another topic IMO.
