Thanks for the pics Kimco. Would you be so kind to let me know how the Blue Heron Motel is? It's around MP 15.5.

Thanks!

Kimco, thank you so much for the pictures that you are sharing with all of us! You have been a great source of information! I have a question for you...I have staying in an ocean front cottage for the past 25 years -- It is at about MP 5.5 about a 1/4 mile from Avalon Pier. From the sounds of it, it seems to be right on the border of some of the major Kitty Hawk damage. The cottage is called The Aqua Hut and sits almost at the end of Walker St., next to a public beach access way. Can you tell me how it did through the storm? I grew up there and am really concerned about how it is doing. The Outer Banks is my second home, by far! Thanks again for everything that you are doing. Please take care of yourself and get some rest.

I called the Blue Heron Motel on Sunday and got a recorded message dated Sat Sept 20th. The Gladdens said they were fine and so was the hotel but that one building was condemned by the county only due to the fact that the septic system wasnt working. They said they hoped to be open this weekend. We had reservations for Oct 10-14 but now will go in early November and hopefully be able to visit all the lighthouses. We've been going there since '97

Kimco,
thanks for your pictures. We are trying to find out how we can help. Outer Banks has been our second home, especially Durant Station. Our Prayers are with all of you.

Thank you Michelle!

I'm glad to hear the Gladden Family is well. Sue was very kind to my family this past summer. I'm just happy that the motel was not damaged. I'm sure they can get the septic system working again soon.

Have a grat time on your trip in November.

Rachel~

Thanks Rachel. You're welcome for the info. I was most relieved when I heard that message they had. I'd been worried after seeing all the damage only a mile down the road. I've been going to their motel every fall since 1997. I even found a quote that Sue had given in a newspaper that they were going to ride out the hurricane so apparently they stayed there. Thanks for the well wishes....just hope the Bodie Island Lighthouse didnt sustain any damage also.

PS..the Gladdens are very nice arent they!

Take care
Michelle
