I was interested in seeing some historic pictures of the Duck and Corolla areas, if anyone has some. I know there will not be nearly as much material available as for the more southern towns. I was reading some of the older threads on Duck, and it looks like some of the pictures have been removed from the threads, maybe in the recent move to a new platform? From the discussion, I gather there used to be more than one picture in a post, and I think now we can only have one per post. Thanks in advance!

If I dug real deep (meaning going to my mom's house, looking through the albums and then scanning the pictures) I could get pictures of the very beginning of development of Sanderling. My parents' house was one of the first 10 built, and at one point we had a really cool panorama of the area.

Well, if you ever get a free afternoon and an urge to spend it digging through old pictures, I think that would be interesting to see! I find it fascinating how much the area has changed since the way I remember it when I was young.

I'll have to get around to scanning my grandmoms old pictures. She was born and raised in Duck. She has quite a few pre-WWII pictures from there. There wasn't much up there then, that's for sure

Whalehead 1984 and 1985. No fancy homes when we started. Whalehead was gated and even posted a guard. Loved going to Winks on the north end. My mom and her friend would have to grocery shop in Manteo.
