Low carbing starting today

I have went on a eating frenzy lately and have managed to gain 8 of the 13 pounds I lost. Started at 175 and lost to 162 and I have gained back up to 170 as of this morning. I lose better when I low carb not sure how long I will be able to stick to it. I once low carbed for 2 straight years and kept my weight down to 150-152. If I stick to it I should drop back down to 162 in a week or two. I have a big appetite and can out eat most men lol . On low carb I never get hungry

This morning I made cheeseburger quiche for breakfast and will probably eat it throughout the day. I didn't have any mushrooms so I left them out and that lowered the carb count a little more. I also baked it in a small rectangle pan instead of a pie pan. I also used half and half instead on heavy cream.

CHEESEBURGER QUICHE1 lb. hamburger 1/3 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced 2 eggs 1/2 cup mayo 1/4 cup cream 6 oz. cheddar, shredded Salt & pepper, to taste

Brown the hamburger, onion and mushrooms; drain fat. Beat the eggs and mix with the mayo, cream, salt and pepper. Put the meat mixture in the bottom of a greased pie plate. Top with cheese, then pour custard mixture over top. Bake at 350º for 35 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Makes 4-8 servings (4 servings - 3.5 carbs each) (6 servings - 2.5 carbs each) (8 servings - 1.5 carbs each)

Sounds pretty good.. I just started back on South Beach since I had to stop doing weight watchers. I am noticing that I am also less hungry thn I have been in a while. South Beach helped me lose 50 pounds. I feel like it is easiest for me to stick with.

I didn't have to stop, but my son's baseball schedule and school letting out soon makes it impossible for me to make a meeting until late august. So I decided to cancel my membership rather than pay the monthly fee and not be attending meetings.

I am still watching my points but I am also using the guidelines of the south beach to eliminate most bad carbs from my diet.

I have found that if I low carb it works for me. I am very carb sensitive. I used the Atkins before and lose 65 lb. Kept it off over two years. Went slow and lost the amount in a year. But with the stress levels from working the last 6 years I slowly gained almost all back. I am happier at work than I have been in a long time. I work part time and still have some time at home. I also had gall bladder surgery and a injured back during that 6 years. Wow when I think back. Time to LOW CARB again.

I'm wondering... tracking my food on myfitnesspal, it has my daily carb goal at 197. My carb log today - before dinner is 88... I've got 109 left for the day.

So what's low carb? How many carbs do you get per day to be considered low carb?

By the way, in asking the question I googled this bit of information...

Low-carb diets can cause your body to go into a dangerous metabolic state called ketosis since your body burns fat instead of glucose for energy. During ketosis, the body forms substances known as ketones, which can cause organs to fail and result in gout, kidney stones, or kidney failure. Ketones can also dull a person's appetite, cause nausea and bad breath. Ketosis can be prevented by eating at least 100 grams of carbohydrates a day.

Can't speak for its accuracy, but this is where it came from...

On Atkins Induction is less than 20 per day but after that you can slowly start increasing your carbs little at a time to find your individual threshold. Some people have to stay on 20 or less/day to lose other people can eat as many as 70-100 a day and lose/maintain.

OBXNUT I've decided I'm going to go low carb again as well. I won't even step on a scale but my 10's are getting tight. Did WW lost 10lbs but got so bored went off. I did low carb a few years ago and it worked and like you I was never hungry. I'd be interested in any other recipes you'd like to share.

I'm doing Weight Watchers right now. Love low carb but any more I have a hard time sticking to it. When I low carb I seem to do better when I eat ground beef. I think it fills me up and I end up eating less in the long run. I will dig out some of my low carb stuff today and post some recipes.

I'm doing really good right now started at 170 down to 156.4. One thing I like about WW is it gives you some flexibility. I have been using the hormone free HCG drops homeopathic and they have helped suppress my appetite alot. I bought a couple of the Hungry Girl cookbooks and I love them. Here's a great website I use when I low carb. Linda's recipes are wonderful and she list the nutritional information.

The ones that suppress my appetite best are the platinum HCG-x30 from GNC. They were on sale for $58 a bottle I think they are back up to $75. Walmart has HCG Solution by NiGen Biotech for about $20. I do good on them but not as good as the platinum ones. I just got a bottle of HCG1234 I ordered from Walmart online for $29. I just got in yesterday and I'm trying them today. Hoping to find one that's works as well as the platinum for less $$.

I read a little bit about them. People say they work but they were also following a 500 calorie diet- hello you are losing weight because you aren't eating! You aren't following the diet right?

I did follow the diet for a couple weeks. I didn't have much of an appetite with the drops. I dropped a pound a day but now slowly increasing what I eat and haven't gained and I'm doing my weight watchers and the scales are moving just not as fast. Some people do a 500 calories some 800 and some 1200.

I usually take 10 drops 3xday before meals and don't eat or drink anything for 10-15 minutes before or after taking them. I had a hard time remembering to take them at first. The first couple of days if I got hungry I would take an extra dose or a few extra drops before meals but I don't have to now. Here's a recipe for chili that is low cal and low carb that really helped me drop the pounds but I have eat so much of it lately I cant eat it for a while lol
I use a 1 pound roll of lean ground beef and and 1-2 cans of the fire rosted tomatoes and would split it into 4 servings.

Easy Hearty Flavored Chili
100g 95%lean ground beef
160g Hunts Fire Roasted Tomatoes w/ Garlic, or home roasted tomatoes
1/2t chili powder
1/2 t onion powder
1/2 t garlic powder
1/2 t Hershey dark Cocoa powder ( don't leave out, it is crucial)
pinch of salt, and black pepper to taste, and a shake of cayenne for punch!

Add raw beef, onion pwder, garlic pwder, S&P, and cocoa powder to sauce pan and cook till it crumbles easily. I added the juice from the tomatos to help start the heat transfer. Stir in tomatoes and let simmer 5 minutes till hot. Serve with grissini stick crumbled on top or take chomping bites with each spoonful (warning grissini get soggy really quickly)

ETA: the beef. grissini and Tomatoes add 190.8 cal, the garlic and onion powder(1g carb per 1/4 tsp) add 16cal, and cocoa powder add 2 cal(12.5cal/T). On the spices, I went according to the carb, protein and fat numbers not the reported cal. according to that it's 208.8 cal.

If you are going to do the hcg diet here is a great video on 20 meals in 45 minutes. If you are going to calorie counting I highly recommend checking out Hungry-Girl website, videos and cookbooks.
