OK, here is my rant. Sorry, none of the main forum issues mean as much to me as this. I don't give a hoot about loosing weight to look good in a bathing suit. Just look at all the posts on this forum, which barely gets any attention as it is.
It's all about leading a healthy life so you can be there to enjoy it with your family and friends. Weight control is not the goal, it is a byproduct of lifestyle. I see many different body shapes that are in fantastic shape and plenty of skinny people that are walking disasters. Just go to any amateur running race to verify that.
A huge part of that is making aerobic conditioning a major part of your lifestyle. And for you posers, things like weight lifting, yoga and healthy eating are a valuable part of the equation, but none involve seriously getting your heart rate up. I don't care if you're trying to progress from 5 steps to 10 steps using a walker or training for an Iron Man, everyone can make an effort to improve, and everyone is fully responsible for this aspect of their health. I have too many older friends who fail to make the effort and pay the price. Don't mean to offend anyone, but I want my friends, including meself, to be around for a long time. Rant over.
2012 Turkey day Gobler 5k in Nags Head where young and old, fast and slow, and even newlyweds, all come out for a good cause,..... and to get that heart rate up. Cheers!
