Recommend a good thyroid doctor

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good Thyroid doctor anywhere in the area. I am willing to travel if the Doctor really listens and is willing to run extensive tests. I have a history of thyroid nodules, and am now experiencing hypothyroid symptoms but TSH test is still in normal range. I need someone who will treat my symptoms and not just focus on the numbers and look a little harder.

Thanks

I wish I could find one up here in NJ. I have the same problem. Enlarged thyroid, nodules (one was biopsied last March because of family history with papillary thyroid cancer), normal TSH, but off-the-charts thyroid antibodies and a diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It's like they won't pay attention to you until you end up in the ER and the labs are law. Can't docs understand that the "normal" range may not apply to everybody?

I hope you find someone. Chesapeake has been known for its medical community or so I read in the past.

So while I can't offer you a recommendation, I share your frustration.

Dr. Paranjape - Elizabeth City. He takes TIME to talk, seems very knowledgeable (up to date on latest research) and will run any test you want.

Click to follow link...

He even appreciated (some doctors DON'T!) all the research I have done on my own and encouraged me to keep it up.
