It's a shame that it's so hard to get info from NPS. We used to be able to get into things like this at the end of the year when they published the data for each nest. I have found tho that when I asked questions of Brita or Randy or any of the local techs I usually get answers quite easily. Sometimes I even think they may be trying to improve the survival of the species! I also know that they moved several nests from the Point area, which is known to flood, to between Ramps 43 and 44 and somewhere around 45. It's amazing that they used these spots because they knew they wouldn't impede vehicular assess.
While at the excavation of the turtle nest near the Frisco bathhouse recently I asked Brita about the relocated nests in the groups and she said they were going to have to think next year about having locations where they were safer than 43-44 because in case of a storm they would lose all those nests. I think one was excavated on Monday so we should be able to find out how it did.
Brita also said that next year they would try to get the transponders that detect eminent hatching to be more wifi or something so the connection from the pole to the nest didn't run a wire into the nest.
If you call to find out the answer to these questions of yours, please let us all know.
