Good Coffee

I love coffee. I hope I never have to choose between my wife and my coffee because I don't know who I'd pick. Who's got good coffee on the OBX?

Steve.....first off I hope your spouse doesn't read this board. But I digress.....back to your question. This past September I had to journey down from my cottage in Sanderling to the Food Lion in Southern Shores to pick up some supplies. I got there about an half hour before opening. so i started to wander around the shopping center where the Lion is located. I smelled the aroma of coffee and followed my nose down to the Southern Bean. It was a small coffeehouse, with a somewhat funky look and feel (quite a difference from most OBX establishments). Anyway, after looking at some great "home made" greeting cards they had displayed on the wall, I got a 20 oz of their "hi test" coffee. Well let me tell you....it was excellent and I was buzzed for at least the next three hours.

I would highly recommend the Southern Bean in the Southern Shore Marketplace/Food Lion center.

Southern Bean at the Marketplace in Southern Shores. Sells both by the cup and by the bag, either ground or beans. Many varities!

Ya know, I don't think I ever had any good coffee on Hatteras Island. Always figured it was the water. (Hatteras water doesn't like me, and vice versa). I guess I'll just have to start hanging up north.

I'm sure there's nothing, Beachy. Don't worry. I think its just my reaction to different water. I'm used to this yummy Ohio water from Lake Erie :P I brought my dog down this year for the first time and gave him bottled water the whole time. Didn't want to take any chances on that one.. ha

Here's a good one I got in an email today:

Life isn't like a box of chocolates...
it's more like a jar of jalapenos.

What you do today, might burn your a** tomorrow."

I too drink the Corona. I've had it while on the Outer Banks AND in Cancun, it's always good and always tastes the same...pass the limes please!

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this one but they say, and I agree, the best coffee is from McDonalds. When you think about how much they spent to come up with the blend they use and how many taste tests were done it would be hard to argue their claim about having the best tasting coffee in the USA.

No way!!! I've had some of the worst coffee from McDonalds. I do like Dunkin' Donuts coffee, if Starbucks is not available. But then, everyone has different tastes. That's what makes the world go around!! Right?
