Toy donation

The wife and I purchased a bunch of toys to donate to a toy drive, but would like to see a local family(or families) benefit from this rather than the national TFT program. Anyone know of a local(Dare County) area drive or church that is accepting toy donations?

The island free press has a sub category on Christmas on the island. There is an angel tree program for donation of toys. Check the paper to see what church to call for particlulars. And big KUDOS to you kind Sir.

The Outer Banks Woman's Club does the Angel Gift Fund every year. They are kind of hard to track down but I think they collect everything at the Baum Center in KDH. If you can't get in touch that way, PM me and I can give you an email of one of the board members.

I checked their website and they are also set up to take online donations with the funds going toward gifts for their Angel Tree. Credit cards or PayPal.

Thank you for doing this!

Folks, also keep the food pantries in mind if you are able to help out.

Please and thank you!

If interested, also look into places that need drivers for a few hours Thanksgiving morning. We deliver meals for Amvets in the neighboring town. They call it Home Alone, and over 900 meals were delivered last Thanksgiving and Christmas.

OK.... so far I found out that the area Marine TFT post DOES distribute the collected toys locally, but I seem to recall a toy gifting program out of Manteo last year. We like the Angel tree thing, but we've already purchased the toys and those programs are usually age, gender and needs specific. Probably make a monetary donation anyway. Also going to donate to the food bank of the Abelmarle. Thanks for all the info everyone!

Didn't deliver meals.

Bad: We went to Amvets to deliver meals and they had just assigned the last deliveries. We were not needed. Would have been needed if I didn't have to stop for gas.

Good: Shows that more people are volunteering as drivers. We would have to make two delivery runs when we started doing this, and now enough people show up that some drivers are turned away. Thumbs up
