Where to Register my boat near Nags Head?

I went on the NC Wildlife site to find a place to register my 14' canoe with motor so I can fish the sound on vacation. The site listed tons of places in Dare county, mostly fishing stores. I went to TW's and the don't do it. They said "Go to West Marine", went there, the don't do it. Went to Manteo Marine, closed at 2:00 today, closed Sunday and there's a holiday Monday. Do I just risk a fine and go fishing??

This is the site I used:

You may have been confused with Fishing Licenses. I thought it was the NC Wildlife Commission who doesn't have any offices on the Beach, only Fishing License agents. My boat is USCG Documented, but what about the NC Department of Marine Fisheries (DMF) in Manteo. Go past the Jail and it will be on your left, small sign out front and behind a construction yard. Not sure which STATE Agency actually registers boats?

Thanks, I'll have to find that place. The website I posted literally says you can register your boat at any of the locations listed, and none of them are able to do so. Very misleading. I already have a fishing licence, so I was only looking up vessel registration. Since I'm sure a government office is closed Sunday and Labor day, what are my chances of being caught fishing without a vessel registration? Do they stop people a lot in the sound? I have a canoe less than 14' and a small gas motor.

Here is the link that took me there, and it claims to find vessel registration locations in each county.

Where to register and title vessels in North Carolina?

Although many vessel transactions are conducted by mail, you have the option of conducting them with over 400 Wildlife Service Agents statewide, or by visiting the NCWRC office located at 1751 Varsity Drive, NCSU Centennial Campus, Raleigh, NC 27606-2576 (see Google map). To obtain information on the location of the Wildlife Service Agent nearest to you, or for any other reason, please call 1-800-628-3773."

Do you live in NC? If not, is you canoe registered in your home state?
The regulations (Click to follow link...) are a little confusing. One says any motorized vessel but another exempts canoes.

No, I live in Canada. Because I use a motor on my canoe NC decides to do a cash grab, which I would be happy to pay if those dumbbells made it easy to fleece me! But no, I have to drive all over the place and find out they are either not able to sell the sticker or they are closed. I sit here not able to fish from my vessel because of government ineptitude. End of rant for today! Lol

Is your canoe registered in Canada? If it is, you can use it for 90 days here.

No, lol, the thought of having to register a bloody little tin canoe with a trolling motor is completely foreign to us! But thanks for the info. I'll register tomorrow and finally get to fish!

Well they're now making us pay to drive on the beach and fish in the ocean so you have to register your canoe...lol

Unlike in Canada, ice fishing shacks are not required to be registered in North Carolina!

My portable ice shack doesn't need to be registered in Canada, nor does my damned canoe! Thumbs up
