I was just wondering how the fishing is during April and May? We have never visited the OBX in the spring only in the summer and fall. We didnt make it this fall because of izzy. So we thought we would try for spring.

Spring is a beautiful time of year here, but the fishing is terrible. Unlike the fall that has predominantly onshore winds that keep the water relatively warm. During the spring, water temps. take a long time to recover from winter with the offshore winds. Usually, the water is still cold into the end of June. Sometime all summer like the one we just experienced. If you want to fish and fish productively, Wait till the fall. If fishing doesn't matter and you want beautiful weather, Mid April through May is wonderful.
