Meet Hattie the rescue pup. I lost my beloved chocolate lab in november at 12 1/2 yrs old. I met this pup few months later and fell in love. She had been abused,beat and abandoned. I named her after my favororite place in the world (Hatteras). Hopefully she will meet her namesake soon.

Thank you for adopting a rescue. We don't have dogs. I keep dog treats in the lock closet in Corolla and frequently have a baggie of dog treats in my pocket when I go for walks. Owners are shocked and embarrassed when their dog comes up to me and sticks their nose right in my crotch. It's very funny, and I have to say, "I have dog treats. Can I give your dog treats?"

As a mom to two foster fails that were abandoned and abused, they truly do know they have been rescued and have all the love in the world to give. I wish you many years of unconditional love from your new addition. You have made a huge difference in their quality of life. Adopt don't shop!

As a long time animal shelter volunteer, I think you, and Hattie, are awesome! Be patient with your new girl and give her plenty of time to earn your trust. You both are very fortunate to have each other! Cheers!

Oh what a sweet sweet face! I'm so glad you went with a rescue. They seem to know what you've done for them, and return that favor three fold. All of our mammalian pets have been rescues and they are just the best.

Hello Hattie! We are still grieving the recent loss of our rescue black lab. She was a wonderful companion. She had brought so much joy to us for 8 years. I hope Hattie loves the beach as much as our Bella did.

AWww, what a sweet girl. I'm not sure how anyone could hurt an animal, much less one with such a sweet little face.

We lost our Boxer (Duke) in October. Very, very hard on all of us. My wife has been "looking" at rescue dog pictures, but I'm just not ready yet. Hattie looks adorable. There's a very special place reserved for people who care for abused pets. And a very bad place for those that abuse. Hug Hattie for us. John

GREAT picture! On the losing a pet ... We had to put down our two cats 8 moths apart. Never thought we'd lose them that close together. That was it. No more pets. That lasted 5 days. Went to the shelter and brought home two more cats 6 years ago.
