Unfair NCAA ratings

RE: Unfair NCAA ratings

Here's my go-to site for basketball metrics. To answer the original question, Michigan's SOS (strength of schedule) is only 75. Non-conference SOS is 149.

Duke's are 6 and 4, respectively.

Syracuse took care of the original concern of this thread in OT last night. Banana

Just LOVED the game!!!!

RE: Unfair NCAA ratings

Just talking about the Syracuse at Duke game on another forum. Important to note Duke beat Syracuse by 1 in the first half when they lost Tre Johns (indefinitely) due to a shoulder injury. Syracuse got the point back in the second half against a Tre-less Duke and then won 10-6 in overtime. This makes the game Saturday night at home against UVA less than what it would have been. Still, it's going to be interesting to see how Coach K adjusts without his star.

RE: Unfair NCAA ratings

In addition to Jones out for over half the game, Reddish didn't play at all.

Yup, #1 will go to the winner of the Virginia/Duke game. There's a case for Tennessee if Duke wins though.

RE: Unfair NCAA ratings

So Duke wins and they drop from #1 to #2. UVA loses and then improve from #4 to #3. Tenessee is now the new #1.

This is pretty neat. The New Haven (CT) Register voter explains his ballot every week.

Seems consistent with the way rankings have worked as far as I remember. Is UT the #1 team....yes based on the way rankings work. It pains me to say it, but Duke is clearly the best team right now in my opinion.

Duke also lost a game since the last ranking and wasn't all the impressive at home against UVa either.
UVa lost a close game at Cameron.
Michigan got schooled at Wisconsin.
UT wins both games since last ranking, with only one loss back in Nov against KU in OT.
