Teachers Counting the Days...

I wonder how many teachers in NC are looking at the calendar and thinking about their first summer trip to the OBX! How many teachers in neighboring states are thinking the same thing. Recently my students have been asking me what my summer plans are, and my response, "Spend as much time on the OBX as possible." smiley with shades Party Thumbs up

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

I’m not sure if Pennsylvania counts as a neighboring state, but, I’m not just ‘looking at the calendar’....I have it memorized!! I’ll be arriving in Buxton in four weeks...for my annual summer stay!

This year, I’m sure, will be even better than the previous ones.

Wishing you a great summer, too, ObxBiker

OBX Biker and Shell Hunter, enjoy your time in the Outer Banks this summer. It doesn't look like I'll be down this year (trip planned to Yellow Stone for my daughter), so watch a sunset for me.

Teachers and all educational people are this countries unsung heroes. You deserve the summer peace.

John

Teachers everywhere deserve WAY more than they currently get.

Thanks so much for your words of praise! I’m sorry to hear you won’t get your feet in the sand this year, however, your trip sounds fantastic. I’ll be sure to post a sunset photo (probably than one lol) but, in the meantime, this is one from my Holiday stay....taken on New Year’s Eve. The sky was on fire!

It is worth the trip. Hit Grand Teton on the same trip!

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

Tim - go to Yellowstone, it's simply the most fascinating place to visit. You will be changed forever - and I'm not being dramatic.

As for me - no trip this Spring but there are 150 days before our October trip - but who is counting.

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...Not Anymore!

No count down to end of school but just a bit more than 2 weeks before we head down. This first year retiree after 39 years in Elementary Schools is heading down early this year and for TWO weeks- awesome! Curious, about any thoughts about differences between first few weeks of June vs high season? (especially weather, water temp, surf)

Thank you all for the kind words. No one goes into the teaching for the $$$, but summers off helps a lot. Shell Hunter, stay in touch and let's hang out! I need a companion for The Lost Colony! Can you believe I teach history and has not seen that yet, after living here for more than a decade. Shame on me. Coffee Light bulb Rainbow Sun

I wouldn’t say that not ‘seeing’ The Lost Colony production (as of yet) is something to be ashamed of ...you obviously KNOW the story and teach your students about it. I find it interesting that growing up here in PA, it’s completely overlooked...no mention of Virginia Dare in our school system whatsoever :(

As for the invite...sounds fun...I’ve yet to see it myself smiley with shades

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

I'm not a teacher but I'm a school employee and the parent of a graduating senior, and I'm counting the days! We have 8 school days left, my son has 3 days, and there are 25 days until our vacation.

Then I return to work and work all summer, but shorter hours and no students, and my kids have the dishes taken care of and the laundry done when I get home!

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

As a teacher...

We can tell you many things... Including how many school days there are left (21) and how many days until we find ourselves on a beach (32). June 16th cannot come soon enough.

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

This PTA mom can tell you that I am counting down the days until school is out and then my toes will be hitting the sand. Thankfully it is just over a month away but first we must get through performances, an election, EOGs and other things that keep me awake at night. 27 days...

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

My school year just got one day shorter! I took Friday off. Thumbs up Star Coffee Clapping smiley

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

Summer officially begins tomorrow at 2pm. Thumbs up Theeth smiley smiley with shades Party Sooner if I can sneak out.

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

Two more half days to go...hitting the sand on 6/23. First vacay in years where both kidlets (and a plus 1) will be with us! The years keep getting shorter and shorter...

A teacher from Virginia... Can confirm. This website has kept me going for the past few weeks.

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

Ohio teacher here......no OBX this year for us. Already planning for next year though!!!!! "Your Vacation is only 393 days away!"

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

I go to OBX when you go back to school.
Prices drop a lot
Not near as many people
And water is till nice and warm
This year 31 Aug to Sep 7
Hatteras Village
So ready

RE: Teachers Counting the Days...

OBX Magic sounds awesome, can't wait to see it. Magic and the coast go hand in hand!

Being a few hours from the OBX, I go there throughout the year. Being in school doesn't prevent me from going, it just limits me to weekends, unless I call in 'sick' lol Feb. is always a great time to visit, and costs are still low.
