RE: surprised

Saw the article in the voice a day ago. Article mentioned not terribly serious or life threatening. Surfer bitten.
Also FB Oregon inlet idiots had a pic .....thought it was too graphic to post. Even tho not terribly serious, the blood was too much.
Mind your toes.

Edit: it was OBX II support free and open beaches on FB.

RE: surprised

I wonder if the surfer was as brave as Captain Cato and poured bleach on it?

RE: surprised

The Shark had a good dentist. That was a perfect bite.

RE: surprised

Shocker...

Ouch! I guess the bottom-side looks the same. Not much holding the foot together.

RE: surprised

Ouch!

RE: surprised

I drove up to Kitty Hawk on Monday. The sides of Hwy 12 were eat up with surfer cars all over Hatteras Island.

68 deg weather will do that.

RE: surprised

Looks bad enough to me!

RE: surprised

I am pretty sure someone posted a video of sharks in the breakers with a surfer IN frame!!! I wanted to shout at him to get out of the water....things people will do to catch some good waves ?????

RE: surprised

The thing is not all sharks will bite. A pro surfer that taught my daughter told her sharks are called "the men in the gray suits" and are quite commonly seen while surfing. But I do remember when a Great White attacked pro surfer Fanning on video during a surfing competition. He kicked him and got away.

RE: surprised

My daughter did get out of the water once when she described feeling a "big fish" with her foot underneath her board. When she made it to shore nothing else surfaced on the water. She still surfs. didn't scare her enough to stay out. Once you catch the surfing "bug" you are in it for life.

OMG smiley Knowing sharks are around is different from seeing them out there while you're in the water, let alone thinking about going in.

RE: surprised

The navy teaches divers that: "once you leave the fantail and enter the water, you have left the top of the food chain".
Also a surfer in a dark wetsuit splashing as he swims looks and sounds just like a seal in distress from below.

RE: surprised

^ ^ ^

You got that right!

RE: surprised

Hey, thanks to both of you guys. Seeing that photo really conveys it! Serious smiley

RE: surprised

I don't know if this is exactly true but have heard sharks do not like the color hot pink. some surfers told my daughter. but then again she wore a hot pink bikini during lessons so the other surfers probably liked that bikini. lol

RE: surprised

Any word on what species of shark this was??
