September Hopeful Fishing Trip

For the last 35 years we have visited OBX 1-2 times per year ! Our May 2020 trip was cancelled for medical and Dare County Covid19 restrictions. We are, hopefully, going to be able to make our scheduled September trip ! A year without OBX would be our first !
Stay healthy and safe - and keep any storms away !!!
One quick question: what is the 2020 typical cost for a dozen real "bloodworms " ( Not Fishbites or Gulp) ??

Bloodworm cost have remained fairly consistent at $10 to $12 a bag, however, some places are packaging them 10 worms to a bag versus a dozen.

I'm told $14/Dzn but who knows in September. Best time to fish between mid Sept.-Nov. I know you said not Fishbites or gulp but keep some handy as I've noticed they often out perform the real things on occasion. A guy I fish with in the fall caught a citation drum while trying to catch spot for bait with FB Crab in less than 2' of water. You just never know.

Thanks, guys ! I do carry FB and Gulp back-ups ! My age and medical problems have limited my fishing to the surf and nearshore Although I've never been forced to use the back-ups while at OBX I've had the good fortune to surf fish in the Caribbean and Mexico and found that the fake Bloodworms I took on the trip were my only bait and worked very well !

Can't wait to hit the September Nags Head surf !

GOOD FISHING !!!

RE: September Hopeful Fishing Trip

I live here and have access to fresh bait free constantly, and I'll say I've had GREAT results with the fish bites when I started trying them last fall. They do work REALLY well surprisingly, I haven't tried Fish Gum yet, but a friend who lives here has had great results with it, caught some monster trout on it. Love my fresh bait, especially since I get it free, but you can't beat something that doesn't go bad or stink!

Speaking of free bait that is very productive... Sand fleas. In September, I expect Pompano in the surf hunting for these. As well as sea mullet, croaker and spot. Dig em out of the sand as the surf pulls back.

Thanks, Stan !! Have already got bag of Gulp Sand Fleas -just in case !!
