RE: How's Fishing

My Reel Repair Customers have reported good to very Surf Fishing in the Kitty Hawk and Nags Head areas. Mostly Puppy Drum, but lots of Sea Mullet if you want them. Trout slowing up. Wading in the Orego Inlet area is Puppies. Although I have no First Hand Reports they say Hatteras has very good puppy drum, black drum and scattered flounder (closed). These reports come from some very serious regulars. So I'm not sure how a first timer would do.

RE: How's Fishing

Sound fishing for trout and drum in the sound from nags Head to Oregon inlet has still been very good. Mann's harbor rockfishing has been hit or miss for me. Sometimes quick limits, sometimes nothing.

The surf has been good for trout and drum when the wind does not muddy up the water.

People near us, close to Stowe on 12, in Hatteras Village haven’t had much luck. I was told to go to the point or ramp 55 but haven’t had time to get a line wet.

Thanks, guys !! It seems " too long" until we get there the first week of May !!! We look forward to the Connection fish messages.
Living in Pittsburgh - fishing pretty much done ! Like to fish Presque Isle in Erie - but last week will probably be it until spring !

Have a nice Thanksgiving - stay safe !!!

I’ve been surf fishing just south of the Outer Banks Pier in Nags Head since Sunday and it’s been slow. Small blues, undersized trout, small black drum, and a small flounder. Fish came in waves. I was skunked one morning. I’m using mullet. TWs tackle report is my go to and some folks are catching up here above the bridge. Seems that Kitty Hawk is the place for trout in the surf, but I heard from a local on the beach that it’s crowded up there and she doesn’t mess with it. I’ve not tried to get up there before sunrise yet.

Very envious of these reports. Not been catching anything in Delaware.

Here in Delaware, we are catching Tog and Stripers, but all below keeper size. Had a 13 Inch Tog and an 18 Inch Striper within 20 minutes of each other, but of course not keeper size.

If anyone is near Jersey, there are reports of keeper Stripers in the surf. They just haven't made it across the Bay to us yet.

I will be on the Banks Christmas week so hopefully something stays around

I also hope to get there in May, and will study these messages closely.

Check out Betty and Nicks page in Jersey. They are catching puppy drum in LBI and IBSP.

Been a great fall fishing Portsmouth and Ocracoke. Been non stop puppy action with a few bulls mixed in. And of course, plenty of blues in the mix too of various sizes
