John's Drive In

John's Drive In

I see the Jeanette's food truck unloading at John's this morning so they must be opening soon. The new owners put up a lot of new fence, upgraded the outside sitting area and they did a bunch of work in the kitchen area it looked like. John's is just behind the 2 story house - that they will rent out this year, I was told.

They are repiling the house across from John's. Interesting process to watch.

They did that cribbing all in 6 hours.

Looks to be raised 14ft if they are using 6x6

They need that to fit the piling under the house and then they will sink them 12 ft or more. So it will be 8-9 ft lower when done.

Wow.

Good for John's. I wish they could do something about their parking. I travel the beach road to save my sanity and have on more than one occasion had a patron back out onto the beach road in front of me. I know it's hard to see when parked next to a van, truck or SUV and you just simply can not see what's coming. Maybe John's need to hire a flagger to guide patrons as they back out on the beach road. They are opening tomorrow, I stopped and spoke with Jason and got the scoop. They moved some things like the dumpster and picnic tables to gain 6 parking spots, he said, but they are renting the house there and they have 3 places reserved for the house. Not sure how that will affect parking.

That’s what I had done to my house. Took them most of a day to set up. Cut the plumbing & electric. Set the girders and raise it one push. Second day pushed it up to about 15 feet. Sunk 32 8x8 pilings 8 feet deep. Repaired & reinforced joists as needed and belted the entire house. Notch the pilings and lower the house onto the pilings. Add lots of steel straps and bolts to attach. Bray’s House Moving did the lift & lower. Local guys did the rest. Can’t recommend Bray’s highly enough!!!

Bray is doing the lift and Emanualson is doing the pilings. They obviously know what they are doing.
