We ventured out on the beach to run our dog and only stayed an hour. Cloudy and cold! I did find a nice piece of aqua sea glass and she had fun stretching her legs, so it was a successful trip. Back at the cottage and turned on the fireplace to warm up!

"Today's Frisco Pier/Cape Hatteras sea temperature is 64 °F." Sounds balmy enough, as 62 is our usual cutoff for my son and self. But the exiting to the air would be wicked. I don't know if we'd make it to a hot tub in time.

Our car temp gauge was 53 on ramp 49 with no sun today. It was much nicer at 7 this morning. My hands were frozen! But....tomorrow the forecast says 67, so we're heading to the point to fish.

Enjoying the change of seasons and not thinking about the beach much lately. Saturday afternoon on the deck was perfect for the Big 12 game, cold beer and angry grilled oysters with friends.

Enjoying the change of seasons and not thinking about the beach much lately. Saturday afternoon on the deck was perfect for the Big 12 game, cold beer and angry grilled oysters with friends. Greg MD I’m always thinking about the beach! Even as I decorate for Christmas. As a matter of fact, we just booked a house for a week in Oct 2023 in SNH and as soon as the holidays are over hubby and I will be heading down for a few days. Just have to decide if we want to stay at the First Colony Inn or Tranquil House. We love both.

Winter is one of my favorite seasons down here actually. It's 55 degrees in Frisco right now and I checked the temp at home in VA, and it was 27. I love to walk on the beach with cooler temps and no crowds!

I'm all in favor of the beach in the summer but the fall colors, winter snow storms and spring blooms all give us lots to look forward to each season. I especially don't like the short days in the winter and I look for reasons to get outside or I'll go stir crazy.

Greg I’ve always loved the beach in the hot summer weather. Recent years have brought us down in every season except summer. The crowds and high prices from June thru August have, I’m sorry to say, kept us away for several years now during those months. When we had my parents’ house in NH we spent many wonderful summer days on the Banks. I agree about the short days this time of year!

Lolly, prices are too high in midsummer. The crowds, traffic and the afternoon thunderstorms are a drag too. My favorite beach month is September. My parents got me hooked on that. But we had to give that up when the kids started school and switched to early June to catch a better price. Now that the last kid is graduating college a year early (woohoo!), we will resume a September beach week in 2024.

I agree that September is a wonderful month. Still lots of hot days. October is usually the best month for fishing and the men in my family love to surf fish. I’ve never booked this far in advance. I know lots of folks do, but it makes me a little nervous. A lot of $$ just went on my credit card for the down payment - at Christmas time! We booked the same house we rented this past October in SNH. Never repeated a rental before, but we all loved it so much!

Although September is a good backup plan. September can still be kind of hot and increasingly it's very crowded compared to past years. There were still a lot of folks here in October. Yes, the dreaded “H” word! We were biting our nails this past October as our rental week started Oct 1 just when Ian was forecast to hit. (One of our sons is an Ian so we got a laugh out of that). That Friday the CBBT was closed due to high winds so we cancelled our overnight in Swann Quarter and ferry ride to Ocracoke. Thankfully we were able to make the drive down the eastern shore on Saturday with no problems. We only had a few days of yucky weather (and even that was better than being in New Jersey) then some glorious beach days. We always get the trip insurance.

Nobody caught any fish but my husband told me he didn’t care because he had such a feeling of peace and contentment standing out in the surf with two of his grown sons beside him waiting for a bite. That’s why we come!

Instead of the direct correction, just answer the (friendly) question and then sign with the correct name spelling. Indirect and will have a better result. Or send a PM. I was curious as well.
