It's weird because they say they encourage all residents to get a re-entry permit and go on to say that residents with a dare county and I'm assuming a Currituck county address on their ID are exempt.

For Dare, If DL is “local” you shouldn’t require a re entry tag - unless you are categorized P1 and require “proof”

But…you strike me as a “namaste” kinda dude.

Thank you for the reminder Thumbs up

I can count on ONE finger in the last 13 years where the reentry permit was actually used.

Just an FYI for anyone in a similar situation. We use a PO Box for our mail so most of our bills do not show our street address. When I went to get my “Real ID” driver’s license I was able to use my mortgage statement and my Dare reentry permit as my documents proving my address. So, it is good for something.

Hurricane Florence in 2018 was one. It didn't do much on the Outer Banks thankfully, but evacuation was ordered. How about Irene in 2011?

Three evacuations where it might have been used since 2017.

Then there was the Great Illegal Lockout of 2020. Though that was used to refuse entry to those with them, and waste taxpayers money to do what they knew was illegal. Luckily the group of owners was less petty than the group of supposed "locals" who triggered that whole mess. Good times.
