A bit of sargassum on NE Florida yesterday with a strong easterly fetch

RE: Friday/Saturday 5/26-27 weather

Weather looks great for South Jersey but I’d still rather be on the Banks.

RE: Friday/Saturday 5/26-27 weather

I wonder what that weather will do to the 5000 mile long sargassum in the Atlantic?

About 10 years ago the beach in SNH had so much sargassum on it you couldn't walk with your feet touching sand unless you were at the dune. The kicker was the grass was chock full of... red onions! Thousands of them. I guess a ship lost some of its load out there. At least they were biodegradable instead of the styrofoam from the containers with copiers IIRC that were lost some years back.

At least the peas, onions and spinach are loving this cool spring weather.

RE: Friday/Saturday 5/26-27 weather

True, Greg
But my weather app says into the 90’s end of next week.

RE: Friday/Saturday 5/26-27 weather

I saw that too, Lolli. We had a nice run of peas and spinach this spring and getting tired of eating them. The kale and cabbage took a beating. Very early in the mid March warm spell, the cabbage moths showed up and what they didn't ruin, a few wild turkeys finished off one morning. The tomatoes and peppers are all in and ready for the hot weather.

I remember the mass amount of sargassum we had in Nags Head about 10 years ago. I found what turned out to be the sensor from a weather balloon. It was odd looking and was a tube shape with a wire coming out of it. The markings on it told what it was. I assumed it fell from the sky and got entangled in that sargassum floating out there. This is a picture from back then around Nags Head 8-30-2014

RE: Friday/Saturday 5/26-27 weather

Swan Q and Cedar Island ferries are canceled and Hatteras-Ocracoke is on a “boat by boat” decision by Captain with increasingly high winds and chop. Hang On!!

RE: Friday/Saturday 5/26-27 weather

At least the tides are somewhat "cooperating" and not king tide level. Feeling like March.

The weather has been foul all week with NE winds. I’m really glad that we’ve still got next week! The whole sandblasting/exfoliation thing is getting old.

Unless the winds increase again...
