Belhaven, Newbern, Washington flooded

Sitting here on battery back up with no power. Winds gusting at 50MPH down the ICW. Just talked to the owner of River Forest Marina in Belhaven and they have water in the office. Most of the heavier wind went South of us. Just waiting for storm to pass playing Chess.

Sometimes the power is turned off because of flooding to prevent electrocutions. Hopefully that is your case and the power gets turned back on when the water recedes. Damage to the lines can take quite a while to get fixed. Good luck down there, BF.

And remember, eat the ice cream first! Big grin

I'll be addressing that ice cream threat immediately......

Still no power. Back up batteries dead. Just fired up the generator. the only two piers that didn't get swamped was mine and my buddy down the street. I made sure to build mine two feet above the last bad hurricane line and I was about a foot and a half above the surge. Had to retention lines several times. Below are some pictures of Belhaven as of a couple hour ago.

I'm glad to hear you are ok. Surge has always been something I have been worried about. Nice to have waterfront property until a storm shows up.

Where we are the water didn't even come close to breaching the banks. Still had to worry about the boat. The water was getting so high that the lines were trying to pull the boat down. Took all the strength I could muster to get them loose and readjusted. I thought I might have to cut a line at one point.

RE: Belhaven, Newbern, Washington flooded

I know that situation. My boat was almost held down to the scuppers. I was there and loosened the lines before it sank. I have kept it in a hi/dri marina ever since.

So sorry that your community experienced this, BF. Hoping the power comes on soon! What a pain. It looks like your new dock did well! Hang in there snd Sunday will be beautiful. I just feel sorry for some of your neighbors.

We're still watching this crazy sound surge. We have seen a lot worse in the winter. We def dodged the bullet on the Frisco soundfront for now. Winds are supposed to go down a bit this evening. Sloshing over the edge of the bulkhead but that's okay.

Yay on the power! We sure do take it for granted, but what can ya do?

Our power was out overnight....not sure what time it went out, but back on at 7:30 just in time to make coffee! So happy things are back to normal for you.
