In 2016 I bought the P900, got tired of hauling around different sized lenses. The camera was great until this summer when I lent it to a friend and the dropped and broke it. They gave me what it cost me and I turned around and got the P1000 in September. I was impressed with the 900 and I'm really impressed with the 1000. If you are looking for an excellent point and shoot with a killer optical zoom I would take a look at the 1000
