Storm issues

They just closed the Alligator river bridge until the weather passes. Very little snow so far in Kitty Hawk. It is sticking to the ground but not much else. 22 mph winds

Looks like everything north of Wilmington is getting snow right now.

Jimbo Canalloni is in Duck, I guess they never kicked him out like Hatteras did. Now it's Monica's turn to tell him to leave.

Here am I at 6:30pm it's going to snow all night, but the winds are blowing the snow west of us somewhere - not here.

Here is this morning as I sip coffee and get the shovel out. Notice the roofs have no snow - the high winds blows it right off - both sides.

House currently on fire in Nags Head. Firefighters are having a very tough time with the weather and getting in mutual aid.

Yes, the one on the corner of Danube and NC12. Fire is now knocked down, and was contained to the attic and a chunk of the third floor

It was a house in our companies rental program. Sad to see them just burn up. They must have had HVAC equipment in the attic. I bet we hear a cause on this one.

There's a 25-second vid on FB and the flames were a lot larger than I'd imagined.

Tim, is that on the west side of the by-pass at Danube and Cove Rd? It looks like a house we used to stay in that our Capt. owned as a rental.

Gonna need some bulkhead work. My friend walked over from Snug Harbour in BB and took bulkhead pic and texted me.

Also, had to call the HVAC man in Hatteras to come and check the system. Fuse blew on the outside board trying to defrost it because of the extreme weather and tried and tried and shut down. House was 40 degrees inside. The man fixed it and said he had four other calls with the same issue. Next door neighbor had gone into the house last Sunday night for a quick check and discovered it and turned on all faucets to drip until the man got there Monday morning. The thermostat screen on the wall was blank. He did another service call Tuesday morning to make sure it was still running and all was still fine. Silver lining; he checked the whole system and said it was doing well.

Just hoping it passes through this weekend's extreme weather.

I'm not whining as it could have been worse. I'm lucky compared to many folks down there.

Jack that board up and get another 12"x length Board to match the outside and get lag bolts and washers from Kempsville and sandwich it back together for structural strength. You can put a new top plate on it later.

Thanks, neighbor! I appreciate the info on this. It makes total sense. Heading down sometime next week to see it in person.

You are so nice to post this info to me.

This is what was running through my head when the HVAC system was not working during the Snowcane.
