This has evolved into ridiculousness. I thought the federal government managed the beaches and lands down there? Ohhh, just answered my own rhetorical question.

So sickening what is happening to those poor folks losing their homes and not able to remove home items, etc and letting said items litter the ocean and beaches.

The US govt should have someone that could find a way to deter erosion.

I guess someone has to die before strong measures are taken.

Yeah, a lot of moving parts that I am not aware of, but, just my two cents.

Bentmtn

It literally is a "perfect storm"of agencies that don't work together and legal issues.

You have NOAA to deal with out in the water ( protective groins beach nourishment)

You have the NPS that claims beach down to low tide and to your property marker( access, erosion, and set back)

Then you have CAMA ( Coastal Area Management Act) That deals with anything (Areas of Environmental Concern (AECs). AECs are coastal areas that contain natural hazards or important environmental, economic, or cultural resources. Development is defined as any type of construction, associated land clearing, or land alteration.) ...pasted from Dares only web page.

Then you have dare zoning for setbacks ect for your own property.
It is a mess to get anything done.

Alexy you are right with various alphabet agencies mucking all things OBX up.
I have always believed it was the Dare County Commissioners who couldn’t figure out how to monetize solutions so their donors could cash in on the solution. Maybe it is the scrutiny of those agencies that has our commissioners scared. Has anyone ever seen a photo opportunity with our Commissioners standing in the rubble?

NCSU Dad

Oh they figured that out a long time ago. I just file that under "NC politics as usual"
