Red state...Blue state?

For the last few years I have watched as our country has become more and more divided along idealogical lines. IMHO, this division is not likely to reverse itself, but rather, will likely grow even stronger in the coming years. It seems that the residents of "red" states can't or won't tolerate those of "blue" states and vice versa. Consequently, nothing gets done to help the country with it's problems and every time you see an elected representative on TV, all you get is either left or right rhettoric. Personaly, I am now at ease with separating our country into two separate parts.
Everyone could get a vote on how to "redistrict" the country. We can vote to divide the country with a line drawn from north to south or from east to west.
This could help to appease even the staunchest of those on the left or right. Perhaps, we can get King Bob to start a petition to get this ball rolling? Then perhaps...we can all live in our own little paradises.

Then were would Texas get the money when their unregulated businesses blow up a town?

How about doing away with the Electoral Collage and using popular vote for the President. Supreme Court should never again decide an election. And stop Gerrymandering by both parties. Have some fair way of drawing voting districts instead of along party lines.

Are Democrats proud of this division? Is this the fundamental change of America Obama wanted? Loser

Hale NO!! We hate it!! Absolutely destest the stupidity of the whole mess. Democrats are the most flexible but the ultra conservatives are like a brick wall. If there's redistricting, we definitely need to carve them out a section all for themselves. The rest of us Conservative/Liberal/Libertarian/Socialist and so forth can continue to live together.

This has to be a joke, right? Thumbs down

Don't like the weather- blame Obama.
I want to know what on earth you will be bitc&ing about when he is out of office.

The right wing folks have done a wonderful job a revisionist history and propaganda. You can't even agree that the sky is blue if you hear a democrat say it. Thumbs down

I would welcome a split as I am over all the misinformation and lies.

I think we will be complaining about Obams for a long time. The damage he has done to America and the world will take decades to recover from.

Yeah, I blame Obama for this division and it started with 'I want you to argue with them and get in their face'. No lies and no misinformation from me, that is the specialty of this administration and that is the truth.

Is the current state of America what you guys voted for Obams to do? Are you happy with outcome so far? Not listening

What I am extremely unhappy about is the inability of the Congress to put the country first. The far right's objective has been to cripple Obama since the day he took office and I will say they have done a good job. The sad thing is they are not considering what this has done to the country. Have you read the comments McConnell made about what he will do if the Republicans take over the Senate? Do you really think he has the best interest of the country at heart? How can anyone vote for a person who's main objective is to obstruct the President of the US and in turn obstruct solving this country's problems?

My opinion is that the country is better off now than when Bush left office. More needs to be done, but as jrsilverandgold described there are barriers to getting things accomplished.

Both parties want you arguing among yourselves so they can continue to stick it up our collective butts. How can anyone defend Obie OR Bush ? We desperately need more choices on the ballot.

As I said, it's my opinion (everyone gets one smiley). You wouldn't agree with me and it's not a local OBX issue, so I won't continue.

Listen up Dickie. I have as much right to post my thoughts as you or anyone else does. I needn't think too long about where your thoughts come from.
Like I said in my original post...the division between people in this country has reached an all time high (or rather low) and I am of the opinion that it would be better to split the country in half and let those who feel likewise live on one side and those who believe otherwise, on the other. If you think I was going for some kind of self recognition, then you are exactly the type of person which prompted me to write the post in the first place!
No vote? I vote and will continue to vote and hopefully a whole lotta people will get out to vote in November. This country has a LOT of problems and continuing to give tax breaks to oil companies, while cutting social safety nets is not something I will vote for. So unless you have something useful to add to this thread, go fly a kite!

First quarter financial results were reported this week by ExxonMobil and Apple, and a summary of some key statistics are displayed above. Here's what will probably not be reported by the mainstream media:

1. ExxonMobil paid $7.7 billion in taxes in the first quarter of 2012, which was about double the amount of taxes paid by Apple - $3.9 billion.

2. Apple earned $11.6 billion in profits during the first quarter, which was 22% more that ExxonMobil's $9.5 billion in profits.

3. Apple earned $29.60 in profits for every $100 of sales in the first quarter, compared to ExxonMobil's earnings of only $7.60 per $100 in sales revenue, making Apple's profit margin almost four times greater than ExxonMobil's (29.6% vs. 7.6%). - See more at: Click to follow link...

a little something to chew on

that and most of the division in the country comes via a bias media driven agenda, that gets it commands/storylines/marching orders from 1600 penn.

You dont need to school me on job creation. The ONLY thing that creates jobs is consumer demand. The social safety net I was referring to was not only unemployment comp. It is food stamps, pre-school, social security, medicare & medicaid. It damn sure isnt...tax breaks for wealthy corporations.
Do some research and you will find that many industries have lobbied and gained tax breaks at varying levels. They range by industry, from 3.9% up to 27%. I suppose you believe this is ok, but I dont. BTW...when a person loses their job, you seem to imply it is wrong to allow them unemployment compensation till they can find a new one. Dont tell me...let me guess...They are all lazy takers and they deserve whatever they get. Hopefully that wont happen to you or anyone in your family, because then you might change the way you feel.
