Wonder what there was prior to that first offense. You don't just start off at 17 with dog/cock fighting. Oh wait, his first adult offense was drunk and disorderly and alcohol possession 9 days previous. Dude is only 2-3 years my junior. I'm sad for him.

I feel your pain. I have been a contractor since the early 70's. I never ever took one cent up-front from anyone to do a job, if I needed to get $ for materials I would charge and collet that amount AFTER the materials were delivered to the job. A big red flag should go up when someone has to give money up front without anything to show for it!!
