Is there a refrigerator in the bunker? [disclaimer: this is a joke, only a joke }
Not just on this forum, but forums in general, has anyone besides me noticed that responses to opinions, likes, dislikes etc. seem to be met with more snarky, mean & generally just not nice remarks?Everyone can agree to disagree, but it seems that more & more, a lot seem to want to disagree in a nastier mode.The old saying of "the more I know people, the better I like my dog" seems to be more true all the time.Now someone can respond about they hate dogs if they want to.Yeah ... let him that hath no sin cast the first stone:"Seatbelt enforcement might have been started for safety in md, but it is used for income now. In our town they will practically call out the swat team for a seatbelt violation , yet the law about children wearing helmets on bicycles is completely ignored."

...people will write things that they'd never consider saying in the here and now of real life....the written word is easily misconstrued for a variety of reasons - one of which is the lack of facial cues. It is so easy to take brevity for unpleasantness, etc.
Now someone can respond about they hate dogs if they want to.
It's part of why I'm getting really tired of Facebook.....
Posting a photo with Al Sharpton in it for any reason.
No nuance or intonation in the written word, and some ppl seem to be insulted by anything. Let it roll off your back. It's just not worth the over reaction and worry. Now, where is my unicorn and my fairy dust, and rainbow?

I guess it's the Philly in me that takes sarcasm from non Philly peeps as suspect, lol.

I've noticed it too. It truly is a different world now.

Now, where is my unicorn and my fairy dust, and rainbow?Forget the unicorn et al, where is the fisherwoman from your avatar? In all seriousness, who plans to be around for "A Day at the Docks" in Hatteras Village 9/17-9/19? A few of us I'm sure could gather together for some fresh seafood, nuance, adult beverages, intonation, infotainment, facial expressions and a chance to get out from behind the keyboard and in all likelihood make new friends. We're game, we'll be at the Breakwater 9/11-9/20. Perhaps we could have the sunset on our differences.
Dennis - you have GOT to get off this milk thing. Unless you are an infant, adolescent or have osteoporosis you have no business touching milk! What are you a damn dairy farmer?In my young Navy days, I yearned for those liquor runs to the Caribbean and was quite proud of my record setting 25 rum and coke Dixie cup drinks at the Gitmo EM club Christmas of 66.Now an occasional fuzzy naval, but a cold glass of 2 percent milk and oreo cookies with the younger Grandchildren is my fix. It is reported that when we took a sea cruise to Alaska the cruse line had to being a dairy cow on board to meet my needs.Does that mean no invite to the bunker?

... The trolling doesn't bother me, they are easy to ignore ...
A big part of the internet tough talk is because they hide behind a keyboard. There's no chance that they would speak to somebody in person like they do online. John

A big part of the internet tough talk is because they hide behind a keyboard. There's no chance that they would speak to somebody in person like they do online. JohnYou hit the nail on the head!The scary part about that, however, is that even though they would never speak to somebody like that in person... they want to. Sadly, the internet has opened my eyes to how many angry, narcisitic ego-maniacs there are in this world. They are everywhere.
The trolling doesn't bother me, they are easy to ignore.What I find disturbing with the internet are these "echo chambers" that have been created. People go online with their views (right or wrong) and find other like minded people. They spout off, and their views are echoed back to them by others which justifies their view as being "correct". Anyone that presents any alterior view is piled up and and shunned away. What you end up with are highly opinionated people who genuinly belive their opion to be fact and refuse to absorb any contridicting evidence.
... People validating each other is quite prevalent....and scary sometimes. "I read it on the internet, so it must be true." Or "look at all these people who think the same thing, well d@mn, we must be right." ...

My wife doesn't even forward to me the things she receives from her mother.
