RE: new flood maps

Thanks!

Here's an article in the OBX Voice that explains a little bit: http://outerbanksvoice.com/2016/06/30/calculate-your-risk-interactive-n-c-flood-map-is-now-online/

RE: new flood maps

Thanks! Now I have to figure out what this means: "2% Annual Chance Flood Hazard Contained In Channel, 2% Annual Chance Flood Hazard"

Which appears to be defined at this: "FWIC - An area where the floodway is contained within the channel banks and the channel is too narrow to show to scale. An arbitrary channel width of 3 meters is shown. BFEs are not shown in this area, although they may be reflected on the corresponding profile. (Floodway Contained in Channel)"

It is not clear to me what this means for actual house flooding, etc....

RE: new flood maps

Its the government. Obfuscation is their prime directive!

RE: new flood maps

Wow that 2% minimal risk zone just moved another 1/2 mile south on Roanoke Island. Did our elevation raise? What happened to sea level rise?

RE: new flood maps

A very little bit more info, for what it's worth to readers: http://outerbanksvoice.com/2016/07/24/new-map-tags-thousands-of-properties-as-reduced-flood-risks/
